At the beginning of the new year, I would like to take a moment to congratulate each of you from the bottom of my heart. It takes a special kind of person to dedicate your life to teaching music, and I am grateful for your tireless dedication to your students and your craft.

I also want to thank you for your constant curiosity and drive to learn and grow. Your willingness to constantly explore new techniques and approaches not only benefits your students, but also keeps the flame of music alive and well in our world.

Canvas templates for the music classroom

There are so many digital resources available for educators, but not all of them have a direct connection to the music classroom. Luckily for us, that doesn't include Canva!

There are thousands of templates to help you start a variety of design projects from worksheets to websites and almost everything in between! Here are 10 of my favorite templates

1. two cheap sheet music scanning apps: 'PlayScore 2' and 'Sheet Music Scanner'

Music scanning apps have been around for years. The premise of these interesting programs is to give you the ability to take a picture of a musical score or choral octave, immediately hear it played, and then be able to export that image as a MIDI or XML file, magically saving you time. and the energy of importing all this information manually.

So the question is... do these programs actually work and do what they say they will?

In this blog, we'll look at two popular, inexpensive sheet music scanning apps (PlayScore 2 and Sheet Music Scanner) to see if each app accurately recognizes different music and increasingly difficult notation, assessing their overall functionality to understand each piece. limitations and quirks of the scanner application and overall decide whether or not it's worth the cost.
